Year 7 visit Parkanaur Forest Park
After all the excitement about getting on a bus and leaving school, Year 7 went to Parkanaur Forest Park near Dungannon for a day out and to complete a workshop with The Speedwell Trust. There, we learnt all about the words 'Prejudice', 'Stereotyping' and 'Discrimination'.
We started off with fun games to get us all warmed up and thinking. The parachute games were particularly popular! Then it was off to the classroom in small groups to learn all about the PDMU topics with the help of the fantastic leaders from The Speedwell Trust.
After a very sociable lunch break, we then ventured into the forest to find clues about our main task of the day. This was to read information about potential neighbours and perhaps change our opinions as we found out more about them.
We finished off by making wheels showing all we had learned and discussed that day.
Year 7 pupils and staff had a fantastic experience and learnt a lot whilst having fun and enjoying a brilliant day out. Thank you to The Speedwell Trust for all your help in organising such a super day!
