Year 6 Teambuilding at Parkanaur
Year 6 recently had a big day out, heading to Parkanaur Forest Park for a Teambuilding programme provided by the Speedwell Trust.
After a short bus journey we were split into groups for our first activity in the courtyard, which was a game naming different animals in the alphabet. X, Y, Q and U were especially controversial!
After a much needed snack, we set off in our groups for the main activity - orienteering. We had to use a map to find our way around markers in the forest, which had various puzzles for us to ponder and solve. Everybody was able to use their map-reading, observation and logic skills to complete the task successfully, and most of us really enjoyed a lovely stroll through the forest - all that fresh air!
We had a break for lunch, and then it was back to work for our final tasks of the day. These were all tricky challenges that involved teamwork, trust and cooperation and everyone worked really well together to achieve our goals.
Finally we boarded the bus back to Omagh after a great day of activities with our classmates. There was a slight (but troubling) delay when the bus decided not to move but we were still back at school shortly after hometime! The relief! Thanks to Stephen and all the staff at Speedwell for organising and running the day, and for making sure that we didn't all get lost in the forest!
