Year 6 take part in the Great Garden Birdwatch!

23rd Jan 2025

Year 6 took a trip to Arleston Park today to get involved in the RSPB Great Garden Bird Watch.

We came armed with bird identification sheets and tally charts and some people even brought their own binoculars.

We managed to spot a variety of birds including magpies, robins, blackbirds and wood pigeons. We saw lots of mallards on the pond. They were difficult to count but we think there were 26 (or 27 or 28 or 29) of them!

Some of the birds were difficult to identify but we used clues about their size, shape and colour to (hopefully) work out what type of bird we had seen. Next week we will collect and share our results ready to send off to the RSPB.

Obviously Storm Eowyn is going to be making life difficult for our feathered friends on Friday so we wish them all the best and hope they can shelter successfully from the storm!
