Year 6 make Hearty Harvest Soup
Year 6 celebrated the harvest by mixing up a hearty and indeed healthy vegetable soup. We had plenty of volunteers to help us scrub, peel and even chop carrots, potatoes and leeks in preparation. The Early Years kindly let us use their state-of-the-art soup maker to speed things up and Mrs Pollock's class joined us in the hall as an audience. Year 6 kept careful notes on the ingredients and procedure so we managed to fit in some sneaky literacy at the same time.
Amazingly, there was enough soup for everyone to have a taste if they so wished, served with generously buttered wheaten bread. Reviews ranged between 'Delicious!' to 'Can I put this in the bin?' with a lot of 'It's sort of ok..' in between. We have no plans at this stage to go into mass soup production as a sideline...
