Year 6 go to Speedwell!
On Friday 5th November, the whole of Year 6 clambered aboard a bus for the first time in a long time! We headed all the way to Parkanaur Forest Park near Dungannon for a day out and to learn about the important topics of Prejudice, Stereotyping and Discrimination.
We started off with lots of fun games to get us all thinking and communicating. The parachute games were especially popular! Then it was off to the classrooms in our groups to learn all about the PDMU topics we were there to think about and the Speedwell Trust presenters were great at getting us to understand things well.
After a quick and very sociable lunch break, we had to go into the forest to find clues about our main task of the day. This was to read information about potential neighbours and change our opinions as we found out more about them. We finished off by making wheels showing all we had learned and discussed during the day and then headed off back to school. Year 6 pupils and staff had a really great day and came back with a good knowledge of the topics covered.
