Omagh County Primary School's cook, Ruth McElrea had the school kitchen embracing International School Meals Day, with a range of culinary tastes but was keen to get take the celebration a little further. As Ruth's daughter teaches Year 1 in the British International School, Budapest, it was a perfect opportunity to connect with our Year 1 and share our food experiences.
Mrs Lyndsey Marcu and her Year 1 class in the British International School, Budapest connected with Miss Smyth's Year 1 class on International School Meals Day this Thursday. The two schools connected via video messaging on iPads. The Year 1 class in Budapest shared a tally chart of their favourite fruit, while our Year 1 class shared their pictogram of their favourite school meal. Also within the exciting video exchange, the Omagh County Year 1 got to see around the dinner hall of the British International School, Budapest as the kids sat down to their school dinner and the our kids shared what they were eating for snack and introduced our school cook.
The kids from both schools throughly enjoyed video connecting with each other and have requested that we "do it again soon!"
