The Fastest Slug in the West
As Room 5 made their way to the cloakroom, from morning break, they spotted two Damsels in Distress. What had caught their attention on the cloakroom floor? Why did they look so alarmed? As we got closer, very close in fact as it was very small, (impressive observational skills Damsels in Distress) we realised that it was a slug! Leaping into action, not away in fear, we carefully scooped the slug up and took it up to our room where it joined us for our morning lessons.
Room 5 have seen many slugs before but none as fast as the one we found in our corridor. As we reorganised the room for class assembly we momentarily took our eyes off the slug only to find that he had disappeared from it's spot on top of the computer! After a frantic search he was located safe and sound making his escape down the side of a teddy bears face (it sits beside the computer keeping a watchful eye on proceedings) towards the stuffed apple the bear was holding. Later that day you'll be pleased to know we released it into the school garden.
Inspired by our encounter we later researched some facts about slugs and discovered that they can stretch up to twenty times their own length and that they have on average twenty seven thousand teeth! Twenty seven thousand! Miss Beattie hasn't slept since.
