Pupils from Year 1-7 braved the unpredictable weather today to partake in their annual Sports Day event. There were smiles all around as the boys and girls raced their way to the finish line in the sprint, sack, egg and spoon and relay competitions. A huge well done to everyone who participated in the fun. Children throughout the school were awarded with special medals in honour of the Queen's Jubilee to mark the momentous occasion.
Thank you to Aubrey Kerrigan for being the “Master of the Starting Line”, McBride's Spar for sponsoring the children”s refreshments and to our wonderful PTFA for being on hand to assist with the running of the day. The PTFA marquee provided some much needed shelter for a warm cup of tea or coffee during the rain showers.
Last but certainly not least, a special word of thanks to all of the parents who donned their raincoats and umbrellas to provided the all important support along the sidelines. Without you these events would not be the same! A particular mention must go to the grown-ups and toddlers who completed in their own fun races. As you will see from our photographs the 'dad' race were not for the faint hearted!
