You will be aware from the media that there has been a number outbreak of Scarlet Fever outbreaks on the mainland and in County Down. We do not mean to alarm you but we would like to make parents aware that if your child has any of the above symptoms including flushed cheeks and a white or swollen tongue that this may be scarlet fever. If your child develops any of these symptoms please seek medical advice as an antibiotic may be required . Be mindful that the pinkish rash associated with scarlet fever may not appear for a day or two. Children can return to school 48 hrs after receiving an appropriate antibiotic. Thank You.
