Kelly supporting our essential key workers
A big round of applause to Year 6 pupil Kelly and her mum Louise ( our own Mrs Armstrong)👏👏👏👏who are doing their bit to support essential key workers in the community. We are very proud of how you are both putting your talents to great use.
Kelly’s granny taught her how to use a sewing machine and over the last few weeks both and Kelly and her mum have been part of a sewing circle who have been making face masks for the local community-Kelly indeed is their youngest member.
Kelly and Louise linked in with Cathy Burns who co-ordinates the collection of the masks and their distribution in the local area.
To date 1200 face masks have made and distributed to nursing homes, midwives, practice nurses, doctors, the renal unit, carers who are supporting the vulnerable, social workers, retailers and pharmacists. Such is the demand that Kathy has been been contacted by people in Belfast looking to obtain some masks.
If anyone thinks they can help either by making masks or scrubs, or can provide elastic, pipe cleaners or light non woven material please contact NI Scrubs Facebook page, Cathy Donaghy Burns or message the school Facebook page and we can help connect you to the relevant people.
Three cheers for Kelly and Louise.
