Room 6 visit the Sorting Office!

21st Nov 2023

As part of our World Around Us topic, we had a real treat in store for Year 3 this morning! We got special 'back-stage' passes to the Sorting Office in Omagh Post Office!

In the Sorting Office, we got to try on some post workers clothing, get to see inside a real post van, ask the post workers questions, see how and where our letters are sorted in Omagh AND we got to guess how many letters were in a sack!

Adriel and Daniel were the closest guess, and they won an exciting book as a prize!
Did you know...

  • Royal Mail has been in Omagh for 506 years!
  • The letters long ago were delivered by horse!
  • There are 50 red post vans in Omagh
  • The post workers start at 7:00am

I wonder if we can tell you anything more about our visit today????????

Thank you to Sean and Tracy, for taking the time to show us around the busy Sorting Office today!
