Achievement April in Room 1

1st May 2024

The Easter holidays were early this year and we returned to school refreshed and revitalised on 11th April.  The first task that we had was to deliver our completed artwork to the Tyrone Feis for judging.  The theme for the Feis was ‘Sweet Treats’.  We chose to create pieces of art based on the work of the artist Wayne Thiebaud.  Miss Bleakley made sure we had all of the materials that we needed to create our masterpieces.  We all won a medal in the competition, and we are very proud of our achievement.  Miss Funston even gave us a special sticker.

We had some new resources to use in our morning play and to help us learn about patterns.  These activities helped us to develop our visual perception and fine motor skills.

We worked more with matching uppercase and lowercase letters.  The dinosaur matching activity was lots of fun and we enjoyed working as a team to complete the activity.

We learned about the artist Vincent Van Gogh and his famous paintings. This linked with planting our own sunflowers.

We carried out lots of experiments to help us understand more about forces and movement in our World Around Us topic.

As part of our Sensory Art, we made boards using different textures and described how each of these felt.  It was a really fun activity and easy to copy at home.
